We L O V E Mexican food and so went searching for the best
resto in the city. I know, tough work! We hit up La Carnita on College St.
and our taste buds fell in love. Before LaCarnita opened up a permanent restaurant, they were the city’s first pop-up taco stand. Andrew Richmond and Amin Todai are the genius behind this
culinary operation. The original concept was to sell street art along with
complimentary taco loot bags. Ahem, aesthetics and taste!
Interior
Don’t miss their signature
meathead mascot – inspired by a skull made up of taco ingredients. Upon
entering the 2,000-square-foot restaurant, you’ll see industrial style throughout the space with raw materials like
steel, concrete, and lots of reclaimed wood. The colour palette is black, white
and various shades of warm orange and yellow. Freehand graffiti by Artist Andrew Kidder adorns the sandblasted concrete
walls. The focal light fixture, made up of telephone wire, above the long bar
makes an interesting design statement. We love how the space is warm and
inviting with a spin of everyday street style glam.
