Seductive Architecture: The expression of purity through form

Calatrava is one of my most admired architects. His design technique transforms the weight of steel and glass into reflection of the purity of the human form and the natural world. Something as complex and heavy as the weight of a building disappears in seductive curvilinear lines. See some of Calatrava's work below mixed with the work of a shoe designer, Tea Petrovic from Sarajevo who is greatly inspired by the architect.

Holiday Haven

This boutique hotel in Mexico City is a destination spot to say the least. Its compelling architecture, stunning interior decor and roof top lounge and bar create the perfect city oasis. As an architectural detail, the building's interior facade acts as either open to the restaurant below or closed to the exterior elements. Love that. I especially enjoy the roof top waterfall and hot tub! Sexy!

Chromatic Scale in Colour - Luis Barragan:::::

Luis Barragan's approach to colour, form and line take cues from greats such as Pablo Picasso and modernist Le Corbusier. A love of mine, Fuente de los Amantes horse ranch speaks to architectures interaction with nature and the beautiful result which is created when the two coexist in harmony. I am undertaking a cross cultural project with Ryerson U to Mexico City in February and hope to experience Barragan's work in the flesh..check back for updates about the project!
