I met a film maker, director last night at a little soiree at Il Posto in Yorkville. He told me the legacy of a great designer - Matteo Grassi. A designer who emerged from a time before the first car was invented he built his reputation on constructing riding saddles by hand. The film maker is a lover of design. He told me of his Matisse inspired home where four of Grassi's pieces decorate his families kitchen. It was wonderful to converse with a person as passionate about design as I am and clearly in tune with expressing oneself through the visual medium.
I went home and googled the furniture designer immediately. You can see each piece of Grassi's retains that attention to detail that make his pieces irresistible, sleek and definitely Italian !
